Long time no write, because I have just returned from a two week’s motoring holiday to Ghana with Keita , his big sister Djenneba and our driver Patrice.
The journey south was full of excitement and anticipation of what we believed was in store for us once we arrived at the coast. I had dreamed for months about the happy days we would spend lying on a palm fringed beach, listening to the great waves rolling in, whilst reading a good book; perhaps taking a dip in the pool before strolling off to the restaurant for a seafood lunch overlooking the ocean, followed by a siesta in our lovely room with all mod cons.

I LOVE this photo. It made my day. Thanks!
Hello Robin,
is it the Robin in America or the one in Australia? In any case, thanks for the comment! I wonder whether she is using the hair rollers as is as a finished beauty product or if she is waiting for the results?
This trip really brings back some terrific memories of our visit to Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations in 08 - after the footy we stayed in several places down the coast - travelling by bus - but two that were especially terrific were the Green Turtle Lodge - great but not cheap! but even better and even more lovely the Beyin Beach Resort - no pool but the shallow sea made up for lack of it - plus a lovely tranquil trip to the fishing village on stilts on an inland lake nearby - wonderful - lucky, lucky you!
This is the Robin who was in America, but since last fall we live in Ouagadougou.
I would think the rollers were just a means to an end, except they match her shirt so beautifully! And the oranges too ...
Hello Robin,
if you are in Ouaga you must come and visit! I am off to Europe soon until end June, but after that I hope we can meet one day!
Sophie
As I typed my last comment I thought the same thing. We may be closer to you now than we were when we lived in Bamako! (Off to look at a map.) We'll be in the US July-August but maybe this fall we'll think about a road trip ...
