Madame Koita looks like a radiant and lovely person. But I guess this death in childbirth thing is still all too common in places like Mali - what are the statistics, I wonder?

David, I have looked up some statistics from the WHO and cannot tell you anything about death in childbirth but I can tell you that there were 551000 births in 2009, and that 101000 children died under the age of 5 in the same year in Mali.
