MALIMALI ONLINE SHOP!
Yes, it finally happened! The long awaited and long worked on shopping part of http://www.malimali.org/ is now live online. BUT no French version yet, and much, much more to be added and improved. I even hesitate to go online with it quite yet, but have been cajoled into action by Ann and Keita..
Spent a gruelling day in Bamako Cetral Market on the -successful- hunt for an industrial sewing machine and a roll of pattern card. (the last few year we have made do with old cement bags, but I decided we need to become more professional!)
Early tomorrow morning we are leaving for Djenne, where the hotel staff have all become bogolan apprentices.
More soon!

Yes! We sent the letter off to Sibi yesterday with a guide who happened to be leaving just for Sibi! He promised to take it to the hotel.
Back in Djenne now. Glad you like the shoes! I am having a glass of wine, celebrating our first sale: Two types of necklaces and a length of hand woven fabric for Belgium!!!

thank you Gilliane!
But things are not easy....I have spent two days in Djenne without internet access- not a good situation to be in when one hope to have orders rolling in with an on-line shop!
But hopefully people will have some understanding..?

Congratulations on the online shop! I posted the link on my blog - hopefully you will get some more web traffic that way.

Last week, the NYT wrote an article that may be of interest to you. I thought I'd share: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/arts/design/african-art-is-under-threat-in-djenne-djenno.html?smid=pl-share
I'd be curious to hear your reaction.

Excellent site, Sophie, and I would have thought everything more than reasonably priced. Bonne chance...
