Thanks to the British Library project... and thanks to you! Are the digitalized manuscripts safe somewhere out of Djenne? Do you know that about 50000 of the ones of Timbuktu are safe thanks to the digitalization made here in Lyon ?
Stay safe! Monique and Pascal
Get your own m/s story out there! You have the platform...
I agree with David. The photograph alone tells the tale, but beyond that, I know of no more persuasive advocate than you for this.
Ah yes! I want to write something soon but have been rather rushed off my feet here on MaliMali business since we have some work to do on new orders! And, alas, we have to think of trying to earn some money to survive... but will attack the manuscript article soonest!
And yes, indeed Monique et Pascal! Hurrah for Lyon and their digitization programme in Timbuktu! The people of Timbuktu have been notoriously unwilling to digitize their manuscripts, and a very low number has been done when one considers the vast amnount of funding that Timbuktu have received. I think the importance of the digitization programmed has now been understood by everyone!
