Menaka Crisis
Pro- Plateforme demonstrations this afternoon in the strategically important town of Menaka in north western Mali and below in Bamako.
The population of Menaka received the Patriotic Plateforme GATIA force as liberators in April when they took the town from the MNLA and the Malian flag was raised once more in the town. The Plateforme was given 72 hours to leave the town last Friday. They must be out by tomorrow night. The population is urging them to stay. Will they leave?

I fancy the commentary silences here are not from lack of sympathy, but from not grasping the finer nuances of the situation - and all those acronyms are confusing! Anyway, let's hope the Plateforme survives this.
I could have waved over to you from Bergen, where it poured with rain. I trust you got the settled weather we had in Denmark earlier this week.
Well, yes I do understand- it is very confusing. And it now seems as if nothing has happened all. The Plateforme is still in Menaka, refusing to budge and thankfully noone is forcing them to at the moment...Speaking to you from Gotland! more tomorrow.
