How Nice!

I have had even worse connection than usual, so was not able to reply in time  to a request from these people who wanted to include me in their list of best bloggers- but I find they included me anyway! This is something connected to Huffington Post I believe...

Can't get a handle on that site, and the comments are inane, but anything that helps to spread the word...anyway, you've had the highest accolade an adventurer could wish for: this has been your TIME year!

hello David and AJ,
I don't know the site really. I hardly know ANY sites! I just about manage to post my emails and the blog- the connection is so appalling here. I am just so glad that some people know my blog and want to read it- it is really nice and encouraging and it makes me feel less iolated now when there is hardly anyone here.

Funny thing is I have seen more Europeans and Westerners here in Sikasso in the month of December, than all three previous years combined. They do not live here as there are only three of us in the city. They seem to be passing through. It's never the same bunch. It is alarming how many left Mali and are still not back. But Kidal is still a persistant issue, with no meaningful government presence other than troops, and a token official or two. People are still cautious, and rightfully so. A long road yet up there.
